You'd think people never heard of PGP

You can get a community version or a commercial supported package for 99 dollars. Unless the NSA steals your laptop and has a couple weeks to wail away with one of their super computers, your data is pretty safe from even sophisticated thieves.

What bothers me about gadget chip solutions is the huge potential for abuse. Being tracked by your laptop, having suspicious but legal files suddenly removed for your protection, some outside source getting a hold of your corporate server keys. Yee-ha! Oh, what fun those Korean and Russian hackers could have with those!

Stop trying to find gadget solutions to security. And certainly don't trust someone putting a chip in your laptop to do it.
