Good for you!
You certainly have every right not to buy one of those things. But if you work for someone else and need a laptop you can bet they will seriously consider buying you one. That's their right, after all. Of course if that offends you you certainly have every right to seek new employment.

We don't use laptops too much myself here at work, but I would definately buy laptops that use TPM for those few that we do have. In fact, if it existed, I would seriously consider using TPM for server products as well. Those are more important than the laptops.
