Why do analysts often seem so clueless?
What did they do in their prior position, sell Pepsi cola? As many other posts mention SPF is only part of the solution. Blacklists don't work on spoofed email. Once we can verify the point of origin we can use tools that already exist such as black lists to identify sources of SPAM and drop the message. I don't stop filtering an email just because it has a valid SPF record but I do mark any message as SPAM if the sending domain does not have one. ISP's need to get hard nosed about this, create SPF records for your mail servers or your incomming email will get deleted; that should force adaption in a hurry. It's easy to create SPF records for a domain, there isn't any rational reason for not doing it other than it is not high up someone's priority list.
