It is interesting coincidence that in Biology Monad
monad which originates from the Greek "Monas" (Unit, single)

is used in English in a number of different contexts:

...

3. (Science: zoology) One of the smallest flangellate Infusoria; especially, the species of the genus Monas, and allied genera.

4. (Science: biology) A simple, minute organism; a primary cell, germ, or plastid.

(Science: biology) Disease germ, the theory that living organisms can be produced only by the evolution or development of living germs or seeds. See Biogenesis, and Abiogenesis. As applied to the origin of disease, the theory claims that the zymotic diseases are due to the rapid development and multiplication of various bacteria, the germs or spores of which are either contained in the organism itself, or transferred through the air or water.

Is there any connection there? Is there any subconscious message that MS is trying to give out?
