You bash MS because it is hip to do so in your social circle.

You basically say they are low quality, greedy and insecure. Not really. They have to make sure thousands of apps run on their platform. They have to be good in order to pull this off. They are not greedier than any other vendor out there. They were cheaper than Unix. They want $999 for BSDi in their day for students. Adjust for inflation and that is quite expensive. $150 for printer drivers, come on. This pricing enabled MS to dominate. As for insecurity, MS has problems. But if linux was attacked and hated by a small group of open source misfits, it would also suffer as bad or even worse for lack of battlefield experience.

So I don't worry about linux taking over any time soon. They have no marketing skills or sales force. Unless you call screaming stupid at the retail public, sales. If it did, then I would have to study up on it. No biggie. And that is a big IF.
