or otherwise, I would have said the "UNIX OS". The (a) MMU needs to have the NON-EXECUTE option off of the non-TEXT segments AND (b) the OS must me smart enought to leverage it: hence ``UNIX platform.''

People need to read my statements CAREFULLY as they are not thrown haphazardly in to the discussion.

A non-execute makes almost impossible to have privillege escalation to 'root' thus it is very hard to comprmise the entire system.

But again, pls inform me of cases of exploited escurity vulnerabilities on UNIX to study them.
