The news portion is the ability to access guest information. BTW, his hack's even easier (though not as inexpensive). A blasted tv/coax adapter. Jeez...

This should bother more than just hotel IT staff (who is should downright scare), but the security folks for any company that has employees staying in hotels. And, as bugme pointed out, this vulnerability has existed for some time.
