There is a big misunderstanding here...
Much as http://blogs.zdnet.com/Murphy/index.php?p=384 personifies the problem with these talkbacks (taking someone's opinion as fact and then going ballistic), this is another type of case where a misperception fuels yet another beginning flame war.

The idea is that Microsoft (nor anyone else) will be "tracking" your internet usage. The idea is that when you receive an EMAIL with a phishing link in it and you attempt to follow that link, the anti-phishing technology will kick in.

Nowhere did anyone say that it tracks your Internet usage. Nowhere did it say that ANYONE tracks your Internet usage. All the article says is that IF YOU RECEIVE A PIECE OF EMAIL with a potential phishing site in the email, IE will warn you when you attempt to click on that site's link that it is a potentially dangerous site and do you want to continue.

Talk about making a mountain out of an apple (yes, I know, mixed analogy but totally appropriate here.)
