Analogy issue here

You seem to have it backwards. You use the example of a airplane blowing up, but he didn't give a demonstration on what has happened or is about to happen to concerned citizens. He gave a demonstration to a non-secure group of techs.

So using your airplane analogy it would be like a security officer making a public announcement giving detailed instruction on how to get past airport security without getting checked. Only problem, the only flight they have a chance would be the one your loved one's would be on.

Now hoping that never comes to pass, that security officer would be publicly pursecuted guilty or not, removed from ever workign anywere near a security position, completely unemployable and humiliated. Yet this geek does the same basic thing and people argue. The key statment that give away Lynn who ambition, he displays his resume and informs the crowd he is looking for a job. He was looking for the attention, and he knew good and well the alternative would have been sleep time for the crowd and nobody would know who he was.
