Bad News Supression

I guess we're going to find out if the no-reverse-engineering clause in most commercial EULAs is actually enforcible (I've long suspected it's not).

There is a definite inclination in the world of both business and government to try to supress adverse publicity rather than to fix the problems that caused it, though Cisco is being rather creative about it. On the whole, I think they're wasting their time and it would be better to simply fix the problem. By litigating it they guarantee that this problem will be in the news for many months, perversely encouraging the sale of competing routers, which presumably don't have this particular flaw (though they may have others).
