Thanks
Thanks for the answers. I hope you could tell that my questions were not directed at you, but were prompted by your comments. My target was those people who, as you say, ignore or promote the UN as convenient (related, no doubt, to the people who ignore or promote IP rights as convenient). Maybe I should have titled my post 'Hypocrisy' instead.

"No the US should not walk in 'lock-step' with the rest of the world. The United States fought a war with the British to determine our own destiny."

And if a majority of the people in the US decide that 'our own destiny' differs greatly from the rest of the world's? How much weight should be put on world disapproval?

"There is a strong movement to ignore our Constitution and join a one world governement ignoring the rule of law in which this country was founded."

And it's interesting that "both sides" (for want of better terms, liberals and conservatives) promote this, albeit from different angles. Many times it's the liberal contingent that promotes the UN, while it's the conservative contingent that leans toward multinational corporations and a global economy. In either case, the US loses control of its own destiny.

"I find it interesting though on the internet and ZDNET Talkback is a good example believe it or not, those that misbehave or act stupidly are either shouted down or ignored."

Um, I have to totally disagree with you here. In my experience, it's the voices of reason and moderation that are either shouted down or ignored.
