Another Netscape Bug?
I've noticed that when using the Internet Explorer rendering engine it appears as though Netscape 8 causes pages to refresh. This causes a problem for certain things.

I have a mailing list application that uses subscription confirmation such as:

mail.pl?CS,7606asdc76076

When called, it will read the query string and look for the confirmation number "7606asdc76076". If found, it confirms the subscription and adds the user to the mailing list. During this process, it removes the confirmation code from a confirmation file.

The problem is, Netscape appears to refresh. Basically what happens is the user gets confirmed and gets added to the list. But then Netscape refreshes. When this happens, it looks to confirm the subscription again. Since the subscription has already been processed and the confirmation removed, it will result in a message saying that they cannot be confirmed. This confuses the end user as they think there is a problem with their subscription.

I have tested using Internet Explorer and it works fine. I have also tested using the Firefox rendering engine and it works fine. It also works fine under Firefox alone and several other browsers such as Opera. This only happens when using Netscape 8 under the IE rendering engine.

I can see how this will become a major problem with other applications.

I sure hope they can correct this problem in the new future.

I'd be glad to provide ZDNet a link to the demo application so they can see the problem in action.
