Formats make no differnce
"This may be more convenient for consumers, but it worries publishers and songwriters. Their livelihoods have relied on people buying versions of their songs in multiple formats--once on a DVD, and again on the soundtrack album, for example. They're worried that their income will be substantially reduced if people are able to buy a disc that combines multiple formats."

This is the stupidest arguement I've ever heard!

Ok I buy the Fast and the Furious DVD Movie and the Sound Track on CD. They are NOT the same product! One is film while the other is MUSIC. Much of the music off the CD is not even in the Movie and what is in the movie is overshadowed by the movies sound effects as well as only being small clips of the music unless it happens to be a musical.

Now IF the Music Sound track is included on the DVD of the movie and the DVD cost a little more for the collectors edition including sound track people will buy that. And your poor songwriter will get paid for that same as the he would if the music was on a CD. This is not the same as having a CD with two formats of the same exact thing.

Where did common sense go with these people? Do they want to make money or would they rather everyone just got thier MP3s off the net where you can't be sure they even bought the CD in the first place?
