Huh?
---Do music publishers want to make money? ---

Yes, they do, and currently, they're not really making any
money from cd sales. So this is a bit of payback. They
don't really have much to lose.

---If they charge Labels two or three times for the same
profit they are effectively charge the consumer two or
three times for the same product.---

That would be wonderful. Consumers are already going to
completely reject crippled cds, imagine how quickly they'd
reject crippled cds that cost more than normal cds.
Oh, by the way, the publishers' cut from a cd is a couple of
pennies, so while I'm not sure how they'd justify it, I can
easily see the RIAA doubling the price of the cd to cover
their 10 cent loss.

---On the CD it's still one copy. If magically playing the
CD allows me to do so in three location at once without
copying the CD or any of it's content then sure by all
means charge me 3 times for it.---

But I can pretty much already do this with a normal cd. I
can play it at home, in my DVD player, in my car, on my
computer. Why do we need extra copies of things?
