I can see clearly that if Microsoft started charging you for downtime, you'd find a reasomn to justify the expense. I doubt either of you would pay for a defective product from any other vendor, and then happily pay for a fix for those flaws from the same vendor. Microsoft are a company with no ethics and free AV ware will not be tolerated without some moving of goalposts and tilting of the Windows platform once Microsoft start collecting revenue from people via their proprietary AV. Yes, there will always be a "reason" - like SP2 - but the net effect on 3rd party developpers will be a constant scramble to stay compatible. Tell you what, I'll save these posts, and then, when it happens, you'll have had plentyof time to invent more excuses about why Microsoft are innocent and blamefree and why doesn't everyone just PAY THEM and stop whining ...
