Billions WASTED to fix the TrashWorthy Computing s/w
Had the IT departments been pouring the billions of $$$ into ACTUAL IT development instead of the IT PARAECONOMY of trying to repair shoddy / junk s/w, the IT would STILL be a BOOMING Industry, with less need for off-shoring and layoffs.

But the bottom line is that the demand for goods and services stimulates the supply. And the consummer who wants immediate satisfaction or drive-through / fast food type of sevice is sending the message that it prefers a shity product NOW than a more decent one later. Convenience has killed quality.

This is exactly the junk food mentality: save a few bucks up front to get food quickly BUT pay later with serious of health problems that take possibly 100s of 1000s of $$$ to correct, IF that's even possible.

The IT Industry is the time to pay to correct all the junk s/w problems it accumulated.

Now you cannot run a PC without anti-spyware, spamkillers, anti-virus and all the other resource wasting add-ons. OFCOURSE we are talking about MS-windows PCs, which need ALL these extra s/w to keep it relatively safe. ANd if you dare use IE to access the Internet, you may pickup some script downloaded to your machine which then starts the usual process of either spamming massively or collecting personal information or spying the keystrokes to collect passwords.

In the meantime home or corporate users are paying up through the nouse to continuously update to the NEXT anti-spyware or AV or whatever the comes out next.

What a rediculous state of affairs since one can have VERY SECURE SYSTEMS without the need to ALL these ADD-ONs.

Since MS and its pals are sucking the blood of the PC users they NEED to have a PERPETUAL excuse to exhort money out of peoples' pockets. That is why they NEVER bother to design security and they do not want to seriously FIX it now. Ofcourse this has something to do with the WELL KNOWN engineering crappmanship at Redmond.

Who is going to spent masssive amounts of $$$ to switch to Longhorn after all the money they have already spent to fix this tall pile of trashworthy s/w?
