Huh?
1)
No.. but you can't execute non-hostile code without going through a baffling ordeal (described in a different article discussion)..

What? You can't execute non-hostile code in Linux without going through a baffling ordeal? I'm assuming you're talking about code received in e-mail, so let me ask you this: When was the last time you got an attachment that you absolutely had to have your e-mail client execute? That "baffling ordeal" you speak of consists of saving the attachment to your hard drive before you can run it. If you find that baffling, you need your computing license revoked.

2)
No.. you can't execute ActiveX commands at all.

Hmmm... ActiveX components... When was the last time I received something that used ActiveX components in my e-mail... Oh yeah, it was a computer virus! And gosh, look at that... So was that last one. And the one before that... Hmmm... Waddya know... The one before that, too! I wonder if their's a pattern here...

ActiveX is a web-browsing add-on (and not a good one, either). It belongs on the web. If someone decided they actually needed to send me ActiveX applets in my e-mail, I'd thank them kindly and drop them in my trash bin.

3)
No.. but media player compatibility is poor. (Where is there a player that lets me play divx, mov, rm, or wma/v files?)

Where is that media player? Hmmm... Where is that Xine, MPlayer, GStreamer, or Helix player? Help, I can't find them! Oh, wait...

4)
Yes.. quite a few times my machine hung b/c of the web browser.

Uh-huh. You're a Linux user. Yeah. And you, the voice of eXPerience, should expect everyone in these forums to listen to you when you say the browser (which browser?) causes Linux to hang completely when visiting certain websites. Obviously, since you said the "machine hung," this was a pretty hard hang, too. As in, you couldn't switch to a different virtual console and kill the browser (which one was it again?), or even SSH into it remotely and terminate the misbehaving process, thereby un-hanging X-Windows.

Yeah. I believe you.
