Hypocracy

OSX is more secure out of the box. For Grandma or anyone else
who can't be bothered with tinkering with settings.

You can't have it both ways. You either act as an advocate for
the non-technical user, or you're not. You're usually not.
Windows exposure of system mechanics gives technical users
access to problem solving practices. While you break your arms
patting yourself on the back for learning this stuff, the black
hats get creative and give you another headache. Either with a
direct assault, or through a compromised network of those users
dumb enough to allow it to happen. You're being had, and some
level of technical ego is preventing critical judgement from
kicking in.

Yes, no OS is inviolate, but this weekly reaming has to end.
There are no reasons why these systems can't be more secure or
more securable without endless patching.

Longhorn is another promise from a company that infamous for
bad design decisions and terrible corporate citizenship. Yet you
give them pass after pass ad infinitum. You'll likely do it again in
2007. Ask yourself whether you ever had a choice.
