What data do you have to give , lets hear it..
You haven't said one thing that makes me think you know what you are talking about show me some real stuff you have worked on and some real data then we will talk (and yes try me the BS you gave about "I have done PLENTY which for you to understand would require a Ph.D. in CS or EE", if I had a nickel for everytime I heard that I'd be retired now) I'd also be interested on a professional level as well to hear about it. Yet so far what I can see is I hit a nerve with "unintelligent comments", yet in return you give no legitimate data nor do you give any kind of base to give an arguement about. Why is that...so you can attack anything I say with opinionated BS.

WE all know the problems associated with SW out there...but do you want me to list what problems I had today or yesterday...maybe last week? Maybe I should tell you all about my problems with SCSI drivers for linux, or maybe some of the security holes our staff found in our linux servers, or maybe should I bore you with problems with the exchange server since a recent transition to 2003 from 97, or maybe.....

YES WE ALL ARE AWARE of problems with MS but until there's a better shoe that fits MS is the answer for most hence popularity. Also your arguements will fall on mute ears I fear for this simple reason, until there's a software that will be as familiar as windows in the work place there will not be a replacement. Its substandard quality makes it through the day for most and believe it or not 40% of the time there's problems or flaws, its due to the fact the software is being used in the aspect the engineers didn't design it for therefore opening a whole new can of worms. Put that in you pipe and smoke it.
