How typical....
Spoken like a true soldier ant.
I have been a business analyst and it is obvious that you have always been so far down on the food chain that you have the all too common "all executives are corrupt and out to steal a buck where they can" stereotype mentality.

I hate to tell you (and SOX auditor, I'll look for you to back me up on this one), but 99.9% of the companies that have had to make 'adjustments' to their bottom line or provide restated income were because of systems or process problems and were not in any way intentional.

The Enrons of the world are far and few between in companies of that size. Most of these violators were born of the Clinton fubar entitled "The Overinflated Market from Hell" and have long since died or are on life support in the "Readjustment Period" which always follows one of these unfortunate overinflated times.

Don't mix business and politics....politicians are not noearly as accountable for their decisions as corporate executives. Its hard to fire a president. CEOs are ousted on a daily basis.
