offshore outsourcing etc.
It will all boil down to 'you get what you pay for' and my personal experience is that, it will cost those US companies more in the long run that they fail to see yet but when it comes to having to do heavy maintenance on all this 'cheap' code from the outsourcers done here by 'us' domestic workers, East does not meet west and the logic patterns of 'foriegn' code does not fit the logic pattern of The western' mind. And the result will be more hours to maintain or better yet 're-write' the code correctly. I have seen this questionable code developed by 30+ Indians for four months work having to be 'scrapped' and re-done correctly. I have also seen most common "US" coders standard proccesses be completely overlooked by 'outsourcers' from India because it was not spelled out completely in the spec, therefor 'edits' were not neccessary!!
anyway if the current trends continue the IT future in the US will be bleak to say the least.
I have already discouraged my own son from looking to IT as a viable job of the future, because after India will come China etc. etc. why bother?

When you call a 'help' number and get an Indian on the other end of the line, just say 'no' and hang up and send a real letter of complaint to the company. I quit earthlink some time ago when I first heard of thier move.

on and on I could go...
but remember when you can do buy american.
