Too funny
"Hello Kettle? This is Pot..."

You calling others "fanboys" is quite amusing, especially on a Monday morning. Thanks for the laugh.

For those of us who are quite adept and educated in spyware/adware removal, we understand the implications of Microsoft's actions.

For those who don't remember or don't know, Lavasoft (publisher of Ad-aware) ran into similar problems earlier when they stopped detecting WhenU. The anti-spyware community protested and resolved the problem.

This is very similar, and as it turns out, not only is MS' ASW default set to 'Ignore' for Claria, but even more invasive spyware/adware such as that from 180Solutions.

http://www.netrn.net/spywareblog/ (entry dated 7/8/05.

Not all spyware installs are the result of MS' OS, WMP, and IE flaws ('drive-by downloads')as other posters have/will state(d), and a good majority is due to user ignorance and carelessness by clicking through EULAs.

I personally like ASW and it is another tool in the bag for spyware removal, but their decision to set 'Ignore' as the default is a decision that will hurt them in the marketplace. It's just plain dumb.
