The amount of abuse Linux can take...
If you compare it to the amount of "abuse" Microsoft has taken (worms, viruses, vulnerabilities, exploits, so on and so forth) then Linux hasn't even taken a hard right hook yet.

What's funny is how you talk about how great Microsoft is when they release a series of patches to several vulnerabilities and turn right around and slam Linux for a vulnerability in a program that isn't even remotely related to Linux nor open source.

Built on patches? Is that all you ever say? Do you know how many patches it takes before you fix enough flaws and vulnerabilities in Windows to make it safe to plug an RJ-45 in the thing? Lemme give you a hint: SEVERAL. You'd probably need to pick your jaw up off the floor if you found out just how many issues XP SP2 fixes. Here's a hint for that one: HUNDREDS. But guess what! You need hotfixes to patch SP2 too! So basically you're praising an OS that's built on patched patches! Then you need the service packs and hotfixes to all of Microsoft's applications that go with that OS as well.

Then there are all the viruses, worms, spyware, malware, and everything else that makes Windows such a joy for you to use.

Meanwhile I'll sit back on my Linux laptop, wait for the zlib fix, install it and... not have to reboot! I know, it's an amazing feat.

Cheers!
