You'd think that sending a kid to prison for 5 years to live with a bunch of other real criminals would be much worse than having the kid work thier crime off for 5 years at place of choosing from the courts. Of course the threat of prison should hang like sword over thier heads to make sure they obey.

It seems silly to give send a virus writer to prison where they can get train by the best criminals. All the while tax payers pay $80,000 a year to give them this education. Then when they get out they might not get caught with all the specialized training and all at being a criminal.
