Look at the number of court orders, lawsuits, and government-related step-ins MS has had to deal with over the decades; my favorite of which was the 1994 government intervention over MS's OEM licensing practices that were tantamount to extortion and embezzlement. (Allowing a company to have the licensing contract on the condition that EVERY computer be licensed for MS software, even if the machine was to be sold with no MS software on it is despicable.)

They've been caught being nasty before; they've been caught angering privacy-oriented consumer groups before; NOBODY here should be taking the Claria buyout as anything even remotely benign on MS's part. No way. MS's history itself is proof to the contrary; they are not benign.
