And thats the point
"For me, this indicates increased importance for online-based
scanning. There's less vulnerability to malign software on the
host computer. I notice that Windows update downloads a
malware checker from time to time.'

Scanning is pointless for "Specialized malware". Someday a
generation of malware will target specific individuals in a
company, say the head of the accounts department. Because it is
a one-off it is trivial to avoid detection by scanners.

The combination of a piece of malware with the well
documented win32 shatter vulnerability you could very easily
add your own invoices to say SAP. As the person you're log on
has a high dollar approval limit you could make a fortune
completely undetected, unlikely to even be detected during
audits if you're not too greedy. This is but one of the many
hacks I use to demonstrate the "security" of windows systems to
enterprise customers.

The platform is broken and must be fixed. Scanning and anti-
virus are a pathetic attempt to fix MS's crappy platform. I don't
understand why their users keep apologising for MS, you should
all be screaming they fix it!
