No, it's not just rationalization. If Konquerer, for example, has a problem, then you just rip it off and install Mozilla, or Thunderbird, or any other browser you might want. Would you please post instructions for uninstalling Internet Explorer from Windows? Or Windows Media Player? Messenger is, unfortunately, going the same way, so make sure to post instructions for uninstalling that too, ok? I use Firebird on my XP machine, and I still have to patch IE. How asinine is that? So, please post those instructions.

There is a fundamental difference here, not rationalization. It's one of many things that puts the lie to the notion that "if Linux were as popular as Windows, it would have just as many hacks." This is yet another reason why that ain't so. Believe it or not, people many people that dislike Windows are such for sound technical reasons, not rabid, uncontrolled hatred.
