Gartner study reveals stupidity of masses

When 40 million records of CC customers was stolen, I blame the CC company and the processing company that fudged it all up. When Citibank lost its backup tapes, I blame that on them.

What does that have to do with online shopping? Many of the people who's info has been stolen probably never even used a computer before. Even if you had a CC with these companies and never used it before, it could've been stolen.

So in the end, joe shmoe retard out there just doesn't have a clue at all. Don't shun an online vendor because your CC company can't secure its assets. This doesn't mean that online stores don't need to secure their own sites though. But they are generally way ahead of these CC companies and processing centers. At least the online stores relized many years ago that they needed to be secure becasue they deal directly with consumers.

Maybe I'm wrong, but that's how I see it.
