Just read financial companies are gearing...
up their lobbies to fight or water-down any ID legislation (which they have done before)- hence our current predicament. Big Mistake! I guess companies don't realize how much they stand to lose if this problem continues to undermine the public's confidence when the submit their information.

As for myself, I limit all information I supply on any application for credit, insurance, employment, etc. If you think this is silly, you should talk to the attourney I spoke to some time back who spoke of some people that actually filed for bankruptcy because of ID theft. Don't wait for a collector to call you some day threating to seize your bank account, garnish your wages or lein your property because your information was not protected like it should have been.
