Evidence?
First, stop and think for a minute... If you require the use of software that is not "consumer compatible software or protocols", who do you leave as your customer base? Certainly not consumers. Why don't you just ban e-Commerce, certainly given your statement nobody would be able to do business on the Internet.

Second, there has been no evidence released that would suggest the breach was in any way associated with a piece of Microsoft software. At the end of the day, CardSystems was keeping data they shouldn't have and in unencrypted form no less.

You should be asking yourself why THIS happened as well. How long before an internal employee took this data home on a CD and sold it to the highest bidder? And who's to say it hasn't already happened.
