The animal that tested positive and was under discussion was the first positive test in 2004, out of 21,500 tests. It was an old dairy cow born before the feed ban was fully implemented.

So here?s what I see. There were four infected animals found in Alberta since the first case in 2003. The problem seems to have developed by feeding blood product feed to bovines particularly dairy calves as they don?t suckle their milk producing mothers. The feed is created using spinal cords, brains and eyes of ?infected animals? this would seem a processing issue as much as anything else. There was a ban on this in 1997, which was implemented in a graduated process. This in no way reflects the current state of our ?factory farms? that feed your face and the rest of Canada. It is certainly consumer demand that promotes the development of these farming methods and since most of our population resides east of Manitoba and 70% of USA beef imports were coming from Canada (Alberta) before the ban ?.. You connect the dots.
Dairy cattle are different from beef cattle, so the risk of human infection is a minimal issue, as it seems to be contracted through consumption of the animal tissue (ie meat products). Dairy cattle beget dairy cattle, beef cattle beget beef cattle.

I reiterate that this is overblown and in NO WAY represents the state of our farming environments.
But I am glad you made me investigate this fa?ade more.
Talk about moot points to be dragging up. The issue was resolved years ago and we are seeing the last trickling results from a mistake that has been rectified. Yet you insist on pointing fingers at Albertan?s for destroying the image of Canadians.
While I was debating the "CURRENT" issues in our country, you resort to snivelling about resolved concerns.
Give me a break bubble-boy, cause when yours pops you won?t know what hit you.
And then I?ll be paying the Health Care for your SICK A55, while you cower and cry in a corner of your padded room, scratching your back forever for your own safety.

Your panic stricken a55 should become a vegetarian in another country.
