It's the same old song
Any downloads can be dangerous. The fact that the adware/
spyware "vendors" have just now started using Bittorrent files is
surprising. I would have thought they would have jumped on
torrents long before now. They were very quick to start using
Windows Media files.

However, in the case of Windows Media files, the ones I've seen
did not have adware bundled in the wma. The wma contained a
link that, when the file was played, caused Internet Explorer to
go to a site that autoinstalled the adware. Which is why I always
disable this "feature" on any player (Windows Media, Real, etc.)
installed on computers I support.

The moral of the story is, if you aren't an expert at supporting
your operating system, don't download anything from anywhere
- with the exception of known companies like Google, Microsoft,
Novell/SuSE, Apple, etc.
