Individualism and Freedom

Individualism and Freedom without the right to privacy is not the kind of Individualism and freedom worth having. Privacy is not just "a good thing," it is a necessary ethical element in freedom of the individual based on the concept of humans possessing equally inalienable rights as spelled out in the spirit of the Declaration of Independence later codified in the US Constitution Rule of Law and Governance and the Bill of Rights.

The move to waterdown the right of individuals to privacy goes against the spirit of a nation founded fighting for freedom from forms of oppression from intolerant religions and corrupt, unethical governance.

The use of computer technologies an the internet to intrude on the privacy of individuals to communicate ideas and opinions, now or in the near future is taking the wrong road to building a better open civilization based on noble values like respect for individual privacy and meaningful human rights. The rush to curtail privacy of communication and expression of thoughts is based on fear and is irrational, if it occurs, because it undermines all that makes being a good human worth more than being a bad human. Besides that it will not stop terrorisms of any kind rooted in the variety of human beings motivated by reasons and polluted mindsets beyond our control.
