Actually, Ben said this many times, in many different ways.
And if you aggregate all of them, and mix in a bunch of the other things he said, this point he was trying to make becomes very clear (I'm PARAPHRASING Ben now, so all you literalists please don't get your drawers in a bunch):

Freedom is MUCH more important than safety, because without freedom we are nothing more than zoo animals safely ensconced in our cages.

According to the article, this new Big Brother idea seems to be promoted by the people who want to protect the kids from sexual predators and pornography, and the next step in the process will be accusing people like me --- who are vehemently opposed to it --- as being soft on protecting children.

Of these people I ask "where the heck are the PARENTS of these kids who are in danger?" Any mom or dad who uses the Internet OR television as a baby sitter, and doesn't involve himself or herself with overseeing those activities, should be charged with child abuse. And all the whining about "Aw, I don't have the time" or "I don't understand the technology" REALLY means "I don't have the time or knowledge to be a parent" and those kids should be taken away from those parents.

With the horse before the cart this way, any argument FOR this invasion of privacy and violation of personal freedoms becomes moot.
