*nix is more secure than Windows
Yes Apple may have 5+% market share however, take out the
word Apple insert *nix you'll see that *nix has a tremendous
share of the computer and server world, rivaling MS perhaps.
Most servers on the web and in the corporate back-end are *nix
based.

Understanding *nix with all its variations you'll see that it's
extremely difficult to break into. Can it be accomplished, in time
yes. In the five years Mac OS X has been available understand
there hasn't been one break-in to the Mac; virus worms trojans
are zero whereas MS has over 100K. That should tell you
something. Even the Mac Classic OS had only 50ish viruses.

It truly isn't market share, it's easy accessibility to break-ins.
Unix could be compromised with social engineering, getting
someone to download then install a nefarious program but
drive-by infections no. Understanding the OS architecture
differences between the Windows and *nix you'll come to
understand why *nix is has superior security. To install a
program on a *nix computer you need to enter passwords, have
verify boxes and the like. Quite unlike Windows.

Is *nix for everyone, not hardly, at the same time is Windows
(with all its headaches) for everyone again not hardly. Windows
is trying too hard for backward compatibility, that alone means
it will never be secure. Active X is one of its biggest downfalls.
