"It couldn't have happened to a more diserving distro. Debian violates SO MANY *NIX standards and best practices, it deserves to be a pariah."

Do have some examples of this that set Debian apart from all of the other linux distros? All linux distros violate many UNIX stadards. You'll find thats one of the biggest complaints of traditional UNIX users about linux.

I'm a FreeBSD person myself, but based on what linux admins have told me, Debian is one of the more stable and reliable linux distros out there. Their slooooow release cycle, ability to upgrade across versions seamlessly and their reluctance to move to the lastest greatest thing at the drop of a hat is what attracts many UNIX admins to debian.

If I were to put linux into a production enviroment, Debian and Slackware would be on my short list of Distros to consider.
