Is Intel a safe bet for Apple security?

hopefully safe: It was based on FreeBSD, NetBSD and OpenBSD at the same time, so hopefully it inherits the non-executable stack from OpenBSD which prevents buffer overrun vulnerabilities from being exploited. It would be good if OS X supports EDB (see Intel's website for details) which I would assume renders both buffer and heap overflow flaws useless (of course the vulnerable program would crush but thats a different story).

This would greatly reduce the chance of remote code execution for any buggy services meaning you have a slimmer chance of getting owned. It's not an excuse to leave vulnerabilities though.; Posted by: tty0 Posted on: 06/08/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
