I'll have to take your word on that one.
I don't know what my standard procedure is going to be if I ever see any evidence that one of my servers has been compromised.

Being proactive is not about how you react to crises. It's about taking every possible precaution to prevent them from arising. One obvious precaution is not using products that are widely known to be rife with security defects despite continual patching.
