Not the best idea, unfortunately.
Why should patch disks be any more effective than online updates, with the update software doing everything short of hijacking the computer to get the patches installed?

Avast is the right answer for most people, but outfits like McAfee and Norton pay to be included. The OEMs are not going to forego a revenue source for a better solution.

And ZoneAlarm? That's become worse than WinZip for over-elaboration. If someone won't/can't use the firewall in SP2, then go look at NoNags.com for a free, simple firewall that does a better job and doesn't gum up the system.

Still, very constructive suggestions. My compliments, Jeff.
