The approach outlined here isn't about scumbags accessing your computer. They try to find valid email addresses by "probing" web sites that take registrations.
The solution is the same one that has been known for years: Don't use the same email address everywhere, and never use your "real" email address(es) for online shopping or anything else, with rare exception.
