Barrages of spam, intruders lurking with other port attacks (to compromise your machine for whatever purpose) and spyware. If this were a city in the real world, the citizens would be clammoring for "law and order" but because most of it is unseen and really misunderstood by the general public it is difficult to get "joe beer drinker", whose kids become the victims, to call the government to task. this is not a case of what needs to be done, but when are they finally going to get around to doing something. The fact is that all this crap leads people to spend more on hardware because they don't understand "how thier computer became so slow", so in the end it is good for the economy, just as the adware which infects our machines is just "the economic engine that comes with capitolism"
