Ok, be enlightened...
Some people actually upgrade their hardware on a regular basis. Some people also upgrade their drivers on a regular basis.

I have had Windows shut down on me FIVE times because of NIC card DRIVER updates. No, I am not kidding.

And if I decide to retire an old machine to other duties (that does not include the use of said software), why should I, as a paying customer, have to go through the nonsense of calling all these companies every time I upgrade my hardware because their paranoid Product-Activation scheme's think I am trying to install the software on a second computer (which I am not) ?

Just wait. One day you'll buy or build a new computer and have to spend half-a-day calling various companies to get 'permission' to use the software you paid for in good faith, and listen to some help desk person grill you like it's a murder investigation so you can regain use of your software.

Been there, done that. And it's Bull-stuff.
