OS makers: Security is job No. 1

Cut the crap!!!

OS = Win, Linux, BSD, OSX, Netware and Solaris
for the desktop. Despite recent improvements in
Windows, all of the others mentioned are still
head and shoulders above Windows in this area.
The only thing Ms has going for it at this point
is all of the 3rd party software which will only
run on Windows. Windows is a nightmare to
administer. It is such a delicately balanced
system that it usually takes a very tiny shove to
tip it over the edge into a total lockup which
can take days to resolve. Innocuous seeming
updates have totally disabled essential 3rd party
middleware and brought the system and the company
to its knees, I know of at least one company
which was forced to close its doors for this
reason. OSX is guilty to a lessor degree of the
same failings plus one or two which are unique to
OSX. With Linux/BSD/Solaris I know that once I
get something working, it will always be
available. I don't have the same knowledge with
regard to Win and/or OX. I can't speak about
Netware as my Netware experience is very limited.
