Totally disagree with this statement:
"Users, at some level, ultimately have some responsibility for
what they do . . " is very true." I have to politely puke my
disagreement.

That's like saying Enron investors have some responsibility for
losing all their money invested in the company.

What the hell is a computer for? The problem with the whole
Microsoft deal is that MS wants the user to run the computer for
it instead of the computer running itself to the benefit of the
user. So of course they never considered security.

I don't believe that I have to take responsibility if another car
hits me when I was driving according to the rules of the road, or
that I am at fault if I get food poisoning for choosing shrimp in a
restaurant or any other of that kinda stuff, ya know?

Techies love to forgive MS because Windows is hugely complex
and is a major advance for all humanity. YET....

Microsoft should have been sued for this ages ago and have
their EULA tested in front of the courts, just like Ford lost with
the Pinto fire deaths, Firestone for faulty tires, MacDonald's for a
burnt vagina from coffee that was too hot. You cannot blame
the user for faulty product design. And if MS wasn't so high and
mighty, Windows wouldn't be under such constant attack.

Apple had a secure network with AppleTalk (long before internet
viruses), has a very secure OS with Mac OS X and I think the
excuse-making for a giant like Microsoft is tantamount to saying
"poor GM, they have all those retirement pensions to pay for."
GM has known for years what their retirement obligations would
be and has failed in their business model to succeed. Hell,
Toyota has retirement benefits to pay, too. You don't hear them
making excuses.

OK, ranted enough. Don't take this personally FilledOut. But
please stop making excuses for Microsoft.
