Dodgeball, combined with blurred vision
That's pretty lame Atlant. Thge question was what have you personally lost. Since you said that I lost some 'rights" let's refute those claims.

The right to have all subpoenas reviewed by an
impartial judge.

Way to throw in the word "impartial", fact is there was never a "right" to "impartial" judges for subpoenas only the right to have that issued by a judge, which it still is, so that's a bogus statement on your part.

You have lost the right to have confidentiality
of your library records and book purchases.

Firstly, I don't own a library card, and secondly I purchase used books for cash and my anonimity is intact in that respect. When was this "library confidentiality" law enacted? If you willingly give your personal info to obtain a library card then YOU have given up your anonimity yourself. If you use a credit card for purchases, again YOU have given up your anonimity. So on that point you are wrong also.

You have lost the right to be *TOLD* that
search has been conducted against you.

This one is puzzling, as the Constitution says you have the right to not be searched "unreasonably", not that you have the right to be told about it. We still need a warrant to search someones home. At least on this point you do have some valid concerns, but seeing a lost right I think is a stretch at best.

You have lost the right to question witnesses
against you (at least in military tribunals).

In the military there are different rules than in civilian court, always has been, and it never was a right in the military. I still have as much right to confront my accusers as I ever had, that right has always been tempered to some degree when it comes to national security, so again no "loss" there.

You have lost the right to be held in this
country if accused of certain crimes by this
country.

Can you please show us where you see this right in the constitution? Are you going to claim the "right to be tried by a jury of your peers"? If you are a suspected terrorist, the accusers still have to obtain a warrant, they can investigate you secretly, but certainly the first step is not to whisk you off to a foreign country, there are still thresholds to meet in an investigation.

Make no mistake: *YOU* have lost rights.

No I[/b} haven't lost anything, you haven't shown that you personally have suffered any of your perceived losses either.

And that's why *EVEN YOU* should support the ACLU.

Not at all, I am not a terrorist, I don't know any terrorists, and any secret investigation would reveal that. Once they started fighting the Boy Scouts and started defending organized pedophile groups, they lost many who would otherwise support them, including me.

And this little tidbit:
Strangely enough, guys selling pot are now considered terrorists.

While I don't agree that pot should be illegal (don't see the harm myself ;)), the fact remains that it is illegal and they don't make their money by being nice to people. I'm sure that you are aware that drug traffickeres often use violence and terror tactics to achieve their goal. Pot should be legalized and that would eliminate many problems in our society, such as prison overcrowding and most of the crimes of smuggling it. It would be a tremendous relief for this country, but until the laws are changed we can still enjoy our smoke in private, just make sure that you don't have large quantities in your house or car and you will be just fine.

BTW, I don't see you guys at the ACLU helping the group "NORML" at all, why is that? Is it because we don't have the right to smoke? But if the smoker was a Boy Scout hating pedophile would you be all over it? Or what about the Christian Coalition, the NRA or students right to worship at school, or the right to acknowledge God in school, or for that matter anything just?

No it seems that for some time now, the ACLU is defending the most vile and disgusting elements in our society, ones that an overwhelming number of americans disagree with. It seems that the ACLU hates God and country, but don't mess with pedophiles or anti-religious nuts, or for heavens sake let's not trample the rights of baby killers or tree huggers.
