Alternate e-mail clients
There are other browsers besides IE (I use Opera) and there are other e-mail clients besides OE. Opera comes with a built-in e-mail client called M2. You can also get e-mail using Mozilla's Thunderbird e-mail client. I have had many e-mails that tried to infect my computer with the Sober worm, but my AVG anti-virus has removed all the infected attachments. No matter what e-mail client you use, the way to protect yourself from viruses is to use a good anti-virus program. AVG is free for personal use from http://www.grisoft.com.
