Smallminded Know-it-all
My ex-GMC-Jimmy transmission was controlled by one of three on-board computers. It fritzed and I was no longer able to use 1st or Overdrive. This would occur intermittently while I was driving the vehicle at 70 MPH on a straightline highway. It would suddenly downshift into 3rd and rev the engine to over 6500 RPM. Luckily it didn't shift into reverse. I now own an older 4Runner with a manual tranny.

Now, add to that the Anti-lock Brake Systems (ABS), the air-Bag controllers for weight versus air-bag deply force, cruise control, the door locks, the anti-theft system and you can start to realize that the automated systems of a vehicle can be much more hazardous that most, except maybe Steven King, might imagine.

There is an OS in my cell phone, my set-top box, my PDA, and my portable music playing device. Apparently, you are oblivious to real time, embedded OS kernels such as Windows CE/Embedded, QNX, VXWorks (Wind River Software), DSP-Bios (TI) or real-time Linux to name a few. That's what we would call "smallminded." I would never own or drive a vehicle that used any form of Microsoft software or firmware.
