It is simple:
I have been using UNIX from various vendors (SUN, HP, IBM, SGI) since 1990, MAC OSX and Linux since 2003 and NO VIRUS or WORM has ever crossed into our systems. We just take reasonable precautions and we do NOT go crazy with security.

With ms windows, often even after you apply a security patch, the problem is NOT addressed effectively and another patch coems out and then another. etc. Let alone that their pathces are BETA and then you realize that they were ALPHA and break other things, and then you start reinstalling, de-installing, and so on.

Is UNIX inherently more secure than ms windows? YOU BET. It is more secure than Linux too. However nothing has been botched so many times and more severely than ms windows. If you want to read up on this, go to www.cert.org and search under 'microsoft' and under 'Unix and no microsoft' and see for yourself.

The user's responsibilities cannot be discounted, but if your selling point is a 'system for the clueless' then you should make sure that your system does NOT allow users so EASILY shoot themselves in the foot.
