There is an ongoing debate cycle here where the same discussions go round and round again. But since you are a new hater.. I'll let you know my opinion in short form. Products need competition.. If linux took over, great, wont happen but would be fine with me. If linux is mainstream, all the hex program builders, compilers and app making software comes out like it did when Windows 95 was becoming the standard. So picture all those Russian, German, Finlandian kids getting Linux. They start playing with the hacklinux programs building up some viruses and toys for themselves. So in a way, it is better that Linux has a small user base.
A popular quote that goes around here is "if man can build it, man can take it down".. yes even Linux. And there was an article here about spyware for Firefox mepis.
