Misconceptions and obsurity
1. As much as ppl like to save a buck, surprisingly no one advertises Linux, at least not well. In a world of commercials to get a product into ppl?s conscious and unconscious minds, the max Linux exposure by name seems to be in a few IBM commercials (most ppl relate it to servers). Awareness.

2. Getting past the 'there is no such thing as a free lunch' crowd who'll say that Linux has strings attached, somewhere, someplace. Free, it must be good . . . like the energy pill commercial, some ppl will go "scam". Validation. Let em know that Munich is rolling it out, that it?s used from the student desktop to the super computer, that they don?t have to pay to play unless they want to and that there is a flavor to fit their needs . . . just maybe not at the local Tigerdirect, . . . that?s Tigerdirect not Apple Tiger. LOL

3. Whether or not ppl claim a loyalty or following, when your thing, platform, deity, or such gets attacked, question is do you part ways and start a new track? If they are aware of alternatives, are they aware of the differences, or are they willing to deal with what they know and hope that ppl are working, thinking differently to approach the problems of malware and the organizations/individuals who craft them, like law enforcement. When today?s blackhat doesn?t have system A to beat up, or the mafia funding such, what will they be doing instead? Not that anybody needs to get "old west" on em and track, hunt them down with their own posse and take em up to Boot Hill. . . hmmm. Mobilization and empowerment.

4. If ppl go Apple courting (apparently you can only Solaris in court), make sure to spell out the technical reasons to switch, not just push style. Style is very subjective and in cases, polarizing, yet was one of the most hyped up parts in commercials. Once ppl start hanging clothing off the side of em or use them as foot props, style isn?t the issue but can they still do what they want (which is probably vegetate in front of the other boob tube)?
